Jah Wobble& the Invaders of the Heart – Cavern – 7pm
Former PiL bass-maestro and PMS heart-throb, Jah W is a quasi-locally dwelling head, just a short hop away in greater Lancashire, over the Mancunian way.
Strawberry Guy – Ditto Coffee – 6pm
Top of the bedroom pops list with the touring keys player of Liverpool/Halifax transplants the Orielles, it’s Alex Stephens a.k.a. Strawberry Guy. It’s a pleasure to see a new venue open its doors to live music programming in the form of this Jamaica Street café playing host to synth and synth-string driven bendy/woozy songcraft that the city has a current penchant for. Spaces are limited to 30 so you may have to join an online waiting list for tickets. Bit of a squeeze.
Luke Vibert, Ceephax Acid Crew, Posthuman, Jacques Malchance – 24 Kitchen – 10pm
I Love Acid bring their heartfelt brand to Liverpool for the first time, offering up live sets aplenty from electro and acid-techno stalwarts.
Sambroso All Stars present The Buena Vista – 24 Kitchen – 7pm
Also on the same night, immediately before, is a contemporary re-imagining of the world-renound Cuban jazz project Buena Vista Social Club, with a Havana-to-London take on the famous record.
Kornel Kovacs – 24 Kitchen – 10pm
The off-kilter, playful Swedish-born electronica producer KK comes to lift January spirits with his Stockholm-inspired sounds: a kind of kaleidoscopic boombox-ready filter-y electro-house with warm pads and swells underpinning it all. Local favourite Breakwave is on open-up in support.
