Tuesday 12th

Decontamination #11 – Royal Northern College of Music – 8pm

“New, Re-imagined and Modified Instruments” programme to include Eleanor Cully ‘Fixations’ and new work by Amir Sadeghi Konjani.

For the latest event in our Decontamination contemporary music series, we explore music that uses instruments in unconventional ways to produce new sounds – turning musical concepts on their heads. For example, Eleanor Cully’s Fixations is a piece of experimental sound art that provides performance directions such as: ‘hold a non-guitar in the position of a guitar and strum the body.’

Free Rock & Roll: Organ Freeman, Those Naughty Lumps, Centurian Sect – 8pm

It will also feature Scouse underground legends from the past and present THOSE NAUGHTY LUMPS who were formed by a bunch of students and local Scousers back in 1976. They broke up in 1980. Now they are back! They will of course be playing their legendary single 'Iggy Pops Jacket'. Special guests are CENTURIAN SECT from Kent, all pyjama’d up for their artfully satirical garage rocknroll. Fans of Wild Billy Childish, The Fall and Dr Feelgood will all find plenty to enjoy here. Death Hags and Voo (solo) – Craft Taproom – 7:30pm

The new solo project of L.A-based French musician Lola G. Influenced by post-punk, French chanson and psychedelia, her sound has been called psychedelic pop, yé-yé post-punk and compared to “Francoise Hardy meets Wire”. She likes to think of it as fuzzy doom pop traveling between worlds, with a debut album coming out early 2018 on Burger Records. Support sees a now-rare live solo performance from Voo's Graham Jones who will be playing songs from the band's back catalogue and covers.
