Liverpool: Next Stop New York is an exploration of Black American music and its ties to the city, specifically delving into how music of Black American origin made its way into Liverpool and its impact on the population.

The weekend will kick off with a party featuring iconic DJs Greg Wilson, Les Spaine (The Timepiece), and Mark Rae (Grand Central) plus Liverpool’s homegrown hip-hop crew No Fakin’.

This will be followed with inspiring Q&A’s with key figures from across the decades, including Eddie Amoo of The Chants/The Real Thing, original Cunard Yanks Ritchie Barton & Billy Harrison, and many many more. The weekend exploration at Sefton Park’s Palm House will be accompanied by an exhibition at the View Two Gallery, on Mathew Street, with original contributions from contemporary artists including Horace Panter of The Specials, Pete McKee, and local hero Mike Badger, and complemented by archive photography from the Cunard Yanks’ collection, NML, Liverpool Echo archives and personal collections.
